Bhojpuri Association of North America (BANA) was formed with the objective of bringing together the Bhojpuri-speaking community in the United States and Canada to share the commonalities in culture, language and traditions in Bhojpuri and to promote this language to future generations.

BHOJPURI is one of the popular languages of India, spoken mainly in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, western part of Bihar, Jharkhand, Nepal, Mauritius, Guyana, Surinam, Trinidad, Fiji, Singapore, Holland, Malaysia, Uganda and other countries. There are more than 180 million speakers of Bhojpuri all over the world. This dialect spread along with people of “Bhojpur land” when they migrated from India centuries ago. Bhojpuri has flourished along with its people at all places.

The key LEAP objectives of BANA include:-

1. Promote Bhojpuri language, culture and traditions in North America
2. Provide a common platform for American bhojpuriyas to interact with each other
3. Establish Bhojpuri courses in a US university for students to learn
4. Strive for recognition of Bhojpuri as an official language by Government of India
5. Establish a global Bhojpuri Magazine in print or electronic form
6. Popularize Bhojpuri Music and Arts in various forms in USA / Canada
7. Adopting common Bhojpuri Grammar standards across the globe
8. Provide easy access to Bhojpuri films, media and publications
9. Compile books like Learn Bhojpuri in 21 Days & Bhojpuri-Hindi-English dictionary
10. Launch Bhojpuri Internet Radio Channel and Satellite-based programs
